A TEDx conference was held in NIS Taraz, where students who understand perfectionism, sleep, K-pop, recreation and discrimination shared their ideas and experiences.
The speakers were students of grades 8 and 10. They were trained by teachers and teachers-curators of the school. Each speech was worked out from top to bottom: all accents were placed, constructions that were difficult to perceive by ear were excluded. The moderator of TEDx was teacher-curator Kuat Zhumabayev.
Tenth-grader Bizhan Kadyrmanov spoke with the theme “Perfectionism”. He spoke about the dark sides of perfectionism, which are characterized by intolerance, intransigence to their own and others’ shortcomings.
Baglan Zhubatkhanov’s speech on “Sleep” was particularly interesting. He described the sleep phases in detail, told about their characteristics and duration, and how many phases it takes to get enough sleep.
Nazira Sabyraly chose “K-pop” as her theme for her speech. She tried to understand the reasons for not accepting K-pop culture in Kazakhstan and how South Korean artists managed to win a global music audience.
Kasymzhomart Pernebek, a 10th-grade student, told about the rest and its types. At the end of the conference, Ayazhan Serikbay spoke about the consequences of discrimination and the importance of eliminating all its forms.
NIS students in Taraz won prizes at the XIX Republican competition of research projects and creative works “Zerde”.
