Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in Taraz was opened on July 04, 2013. It became the 12th in the family of Intellectual schools.

Construction of the school was started on July 28, 2011. The project cost of the facility was 2.9 billion tenge.

Students who passed the competitive selection and received the educational grant “Orken”, their parents and teachers came to the first line in the life of the school. Akim of Zhambyl region Kanat Bozumbayev, representatives of regional and city akimats, as well as state universities of the region came to congratulate them on the significant event.

Chairman of the Board of AEO “Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools” Kulyash Shamshidinova, principal of the school Arsen Baitukov and director of the construction company “AK Ordasy Corporation” Sadulla Kalybekov addressed the students of the school words of congratulations. Temirlan Zhumanov, a graduate of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Astana in 2013, a student of Nazarbayev University, a prize-winner of the Zhautykov Olympiad, congratulated the participants on the start of the new academic year.

Competitive selection of teachers to the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in Taraz was held in November 2012 and June 2013. They were attended by about 300 leading teachers of Taraz, Almaty, Atyrau and Zhambyl regions.

The competitive selection of students to the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in Taraz was held in January 2013 in grades 8, 9, 10 with Kazakh and Russian languages of instruction. According to the results of two stages of competitive selection, 472 applicants became owners of the educational grant “Orken” for training in an Intellectual School.

On June 22-23, 2013 year was held a competitive selection of children in grades 7 for the 2013-2014 academic year, under the new system for teaching developed jointly with strategic partners Cito (Netherlands) and CTY (USA).

 General information

 The school is located on an area of 6 hectares and is designed for 720 students. It is equipped with the latest computer systems, multimedia classrooms equipped with high-performance electronic computers, interactive whiteboards, high-speed Internet, innovative software tools that not only help to gain knowledge, but also can guide the educational process.

The school building is formed from several large blocks: educational, sleeping and sports. The study block includes 67 modernized classrooms, the sleeping block has a cozy dormitory for nonresident children with 132 seats. In the sports building there are large and small halls, a gym.

The educational institution has a library with an extensive media library, a TV studio, a medical unit, a dining and assembly halls for 360 seats, a greenhouse, a winter garden and a stadium.

For the development of students, the school operates a robotics laboratory with the possibility of modeling intelligent mechanisms, assembling robots from Lego elements, programming with simple software and observing the “life” of robots.

The school also provides classrooms for individual classes, technical modeling, art technology, psychological relief, integration of pedagogical and information technologies, and several universal classrooms.

Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Taraz city was accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) in November 2018. During the team visit, foreign experts highly appreciated the organization of the educational process of the school.

In September 2018, the school became a member of the National Federation of UNESCO Clubs of Kazakhstan. As a member of the club, the school community takes an active part in the implementation of creative, cultural and spiritual projects of UNESCO.

Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Taraz city pays great attention to research activities aimed at studying the flora and fauna, historical sites, architectural monuments and industrial facilities of its region.

The diverse research activities of the school’s students were awarded prizes at international competitions in archaeology, biotechnology, ecology, chemical technology and local history.
