On November 10, 2018 in Almaty in the small hall of KIMEP University was held the II international competition of oratory “English speech and storytelling contest”. The competition is a joint project of educational centers “Burningbush Korea” and “Global college, Canada”. The aim of the competition was to improve the English language skills of the contestants, to gain students’ confidence in the oratory, to create a platform for the exchange of original thoughts and innovative ideas about the world.
Sergey Kim and Valeria Yugay, students of the 10th grade of Taraz Intellectual school passed to the final, where they competed with the contestants from Almaty international schools. According to the tasks of the qualifying stage of the competition, participants had to write an essay of 700 words on “the Role of information and communication technology in the modern world”. In the finals, 24 contestants from 70 claimed. Under the terms of the contest, the finalists had to learn their speech by heart and present their topic within 5 minutes. The content of speech, presentation skills and fluency of speech were evaluated.
As a result of the competition Valeria Yugay was awarded the second prize, Sergey Kim took sixth place and received a certificate of participation.
– We have been preparing for the contest for a month. We were a little worried before the performance. The advice of our manager helped us to cope with the excitement. I want to thank the school for their support and our head – teacher of the English language Nagima Kenzhebekovna, – note the young speakers.
