Anti-bullying program KiVa

• KiVa is an innovative, award-winning, evidence-based school program for bullying prevention and intervention.

• The program was developed in 2006-2009 by the University of Turku by order and with the funding from the Ministry of Culture and Education of Finland.

• Developers of the program are experts at the University of Turku, who have studied the phenomenon of bullying and ego mechanism for decades. The team is led by Professor Kristina Salmivalli, PhD, and special researcher Elisa Poskiparta, PhD.

Objectives of anti-bullying program KiVa:

• Prevention of bullying

• Interference (actions to solve emerging cases of bullying)

• Reducing the negative consequences of bullying to a minimum

Every school implementing the KiVa program must have a KiVa team!

Role of KiVa team

• Analysis of repeated and systematic bullying cases together with the curator

• Documenting cases of bullying

  KiVa team is not the solution to all school problems!
