Today at the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in Taraz the republican local-history research expedition “Tugan elge tagzym – 2025” officially commenced. The expedition will take place from June 9 to June 13, 2025.

Students and their mentors from four regions—Taldykorgan, Kokshetau, Pavlodar, and Aktau—are participating. As part of the program, participants will tour historical, cultural, and industrial sites in Jambyl Region and the city of Taraz, and study sacred locations and cultural monuments that form part of Kazakhstan’s heritage geography. This initiative will deepen their understanding of their native land and develop their practical field-research skills.

This morning, a solemn opening ceremony was held on the school grounds: guests were introduced to the history and facilities of NIS of Physics and Mathematics in Taraz, followed by a cultural program featuring songs, dances, and literary-musical performances dedicated to the 180th anniversary of Abai Qunanbaiuly. The themes and objectives of the annual “Tugan elge tagzym – 2025” expedition were also presented.

On its first day, the expedition began with a guided tour of ancient Taraz’s historic landmarks, including:

• Aisha Bibi Mausoleum

• Karakhan Mausoleum

• Shakhristan Historical and Cultural Complex

• Tekturmas Historical Complex
