Passed the qualifying stage of the debate tournament “Jas REPUBLIC CUP”

The national debate tournament “Jas REPUBLIC CUP” on the theme “Fair, clean and safe Kazakhstan” was held at the Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Taldykorgan. 31 teams took part in the regional qualifying stage, that’s more than 150 young debaters from all over the region.  It should be noted that the National Debate Tournament was held in all regions of the country.

Development of critical thinking skills, the ability to analyze information, work in a team, formulate questions and answer them. As well as introducing students to knowledge, ingenuity, and oratory. This is the purpose of the tournament. Youth is the future of the country, the driving force of society. In the qualifying tournament, participants proposed solutions and effective mechanisms to current problems in Kazakhstan.

– Debate is an educational game. An important task for the participants in the game is to understand that both opinions in the dispute deserve careful study and careful elaboration of the arguments in their support. Just because one team or another wins a debate does not mean that the position it defends is correct. After all, this same team, by the will of fate, could play on the other side. The organization of this tournament is acquiring a global format. All the topics that are played out here are defined and adapted to the age of the students and their level,” said Gaufarya Akhmetova, an expert of the debate movement “Zhas Urpak”.

– This debate tournament takes place in all regions of Kazakhstan. In October, on the occasion of Republic Day, debates of the republican tournament will be held. The main goal of this initiative is to instill knowledge in our future generations and increase patriotic abilities,” said Rishat Kozhabek, Chairman of the regional branch of the public association of the Respublica party, in his speech.

Smart and educated youth exchanged experiences and views. It is worth noting that today debate clubs are active in all educational institutions. They make a great contribution to the development of students' intellectual and communication skills.

According to the results of the qualifying tournament in the Kazakh league, the team from the Schoolchildren's Palace won. The team of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Taldykorgan took 1st place in the Russian league.

The winners will represent the Zhetisu region at the Republican National Tournament in October.
