Dombra Hour in NIS: the sounds of ancient kuys united schools across the country

Today, the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Taldykorgan hosted a Single hour of dombra, a musical and educational event called Dombra-Dastan. The lesson was held within the framework of the large-scale project "100 kuy", which covered all regions of the country and 22 branches of the AEO "Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools". The event opened with a story about the history of dombra. This stringed musical instrument is inextricably linked with the entire history of the steppes. For centuries, dombra accompanied the nomads: it was not only a means of emotional expression, but also a kind of "chronicle" of the people. In total, there are several thousand kuys in the Kazakh musical tradition, many of which are real masterpieces of world art. The head of the dombra circle, Tanjaryk Orynbasar, performed an exciting performance and told in detail the story of several honored kuys. The works of Kurmangazy, the great zhyrau, the recognized founder of the dombra music school, were performed: his soul—touching kyu "Kishkentai". Kazangapa Tlepbergenuly's kui "Bogelek" performed masterfully. Nurgisa Tlendiev's legendary kui "Akku" was performed in a truly inspiring way, as well as the popular masterpieces "Adai" and "Aksak kulan" — compositions that reflected all the beauty and depth of the national soul. Some kuis, such as "Aksak kulan", have a dramatic history of creation and convey in music even the sound of horse hooves or the voice of human sorrow. Kurmangazy Sagyrbayuly himself wrote more than 60 kuys dedicated to freedom, nature, and the fate of the people. A striking conclusion was the belligerent and patriotic kui "Jumyr Kylysh", which sounded especially solemn in the performance of the NIS Taldykorgan dombrist ensemble. Such a lesson does not just introduce children to interesting historical facts and musical works — it creates in students a sense of pride in their roots, for art that speaks the language of the heart and time.
