Akzhol Bolat, a student of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Taldykorgan, became the winner of the final qualifying round for the IESO 2025 International Olympiad! He will represent Kazakhstan as part of the national team at the International Olympiad of Earth Sciences, which will be held in China. The IESO (International Earth Science Olympiad) is an annual competition for secondary school students covering disciplines such as geology, meteorology, geophysics, oceanography, and astronomy. Since its foundation in 2007, Kazakhstan has been participating in the Olympics since 2015, and during this time our teams have adequately represented the country on the international stage in countries such as Brazil, Japan, France, Thailand and South Korea, as well as three times online during the pandemic. Every year, young geologists from more than 30 countries participate in the Olympiad. This year, more than 100 applicants from different schools of Kazakhstan took part in the qualifying round. As a result, four participants reached the final, including Akzhol Bolat. It is worth noting that Akzhol is a prize-winner of a number of prestigious international Olympiads. He won silver at the EGeO-2024 European Olympic Games in Serbia last year, as well as silver at iGeo-2024 in Ireland. Such events not only broaden the horizons of students, but also have a significant impact on the choice of a future profession, as well as contribute to strengthening friendly relations between countries. Akzhol Bolat is a vivid example of how perseverance and the pursuit of knowledge can lead to international recognition and success.
