On February 13-15, students of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Taldykorgan took part in the XX International Model UN (MUN) Conference organized by Georgetown University. At MUN conferences, students discussed global issues in more than ten committees covering important topics such as climate change, sustainable development, international security, and human rights. Each conference raises its own global themes, where the committees simulate the work of real UN bodies such as the General Assembly, the Security Council and the Human Rights Committee. Our delegates demonstrated excellent teamwork skills by convincingly expressing their ideas and applying diplomatic techniques, including knowledge of business English. The event brought together 1,300 delegates from various countries representing 20 committees. — Participating in Model UN was an incredible experience. We not only discussed important global issues, but also learned how to work as a team and find compromises," one of the delegates, Marat Aldarbergen, shared his impressions.
