The traditional local history and research expedition "Tagzym to the Motherland" was held at the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in the Abay District of Shymkent. More than 70 students from Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools in Astana, Almaty, and Semey took part in the five-day educational journey.

The main objective of the expedition was to promote a deeper understanding of the history and cultural heritage of the homeland, foster national values, strengthen students’ sense of patriotism, and develop their research skills.

As part of the programme, participants visited significant historical and cultural sites across the Turkistan region. The students explored landmarks in the Ordabasy District and visited the museum and mausoleum of Kazakh wrestling legend Kazhymukan Munaitpasov.

During the expedition, the young researchers visited the Otyrar State Archaeological Museum-Reserve, where they learned about the history of the ancient city of Otyrar. They also visited the Arystan Bab Mausoleum, the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi in Turkistan, the Tulkibas Aulie Mausoleum in the Tulkibas District, and other sacred sites of the region.

The participants also visited the museum of the Aksu-Zhabagly State Nature Reserve, which is included in UNESCO’s World Network of Biosphere Reserves, where they gained valuable insights into Kazakhstan’s natural heritage and biodiversity.

Throughout the expedition, students not only explored the historical and cultural features of the region but also exchanged experiences, engaged in teamwork, and enhanced their creative and research skills.

The "Tagzym to the Motherland" project is one of the key educational initiatives aimed at fostering young people’s love for their homeland and strengthening their national identity.

At the conclusion of the expedition, participants presented their research projects and shared their experiences, emphasizing the importance of preserving and promoting the historical and cultural heritage of their country.
