Regional winners of the tournament “JasREPUBLIC CUP” were determined

From September 28 to 29 in Nazarbayev Intellectual school of physics and mathematics direction of Semey city passed the qualifying stage of the National Debate Tournament “JasREPUBLIC CUP”.

More than 100 schoolchildren from Zharma, Kokpektin, Ayaguz, Urjar, Makanshi and Borodulikha districts, as well as from the regional center competed in debates to identify the strongest. The topics discussed covered various social problems and provoked active debates among 35 factions. The chief judge of the regional debate noted that interest in oratory among students is growing, making it difficult to determine the winner.

“The debate movement in our region develops annually. This event should also inspire schoolchildren for new debates. Despite their young age, pupils were able to reasonably discuss such topics as private schools, the benefits and harms of ChatGPT, as well as convenient cities for living”, - said the coordinator of the intellectual debate club ‘Congress’, chief judge Didar Zhanimkhanova.

The aim of the tournament is to develop thinking and oratorical skills of young debaters, as well as to form a culture of exchange of opinions among students. The event was organized with the support of Respublica parties together with the organization “Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools” and the public foundation “Ozgerteam”.

In the Kazakh league 25 factions competed, in the Russian league - 10. According to the results of the competition, the first place in the Kazakh league took gymnasium № 37 named after Ybyray Altynsarin, the second - Economic Lyceum. The third place was taken by school № 47 named after Akhmet Baytursynuly.

In the Russian league the winner was Intellectual school NIS Semey. The second place was taken by the specialized lyceum for gifted children “BILLM-INNOVATION”, the third place was taken by the boarding school for boys “Zhas-Ұlan” named after Sh. Ulikhanov.

According to the results of the competition, the chairman of the Respublica branch of the regional party Abay Almas Aitmuqash presented special diplomas and prizes to the winners. The participants recognized as the best at the regional stage received a ticket to the Republican National Tournament.
