NIS Semey Teacher Recognized Among the Best in the NIS Network

Nurgazy Tursyngazyn, a mathematics teacher at the Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Semey, won second place in the online round of the national “Best NIS Teacher – 2026” competition.

A total of 21 teachers — winners of the school-level rounds from across the Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools network — participated in the competition. The contestants presented open lessons, original teaching practices, and the results of their work in key areas of modern educational development, demonstrating a high level of professional expertise.

Nurgazy Seitkazyuly has 12 years of teaching experience, 11 of which have been within the NIS system. He holds the qualification of Expert Teacher. Throughout his career, he has made a significant contribution to fostering students’ interest in science and strengthening the Olympiad movement in the region. His students consistently achieve top results in national and international academic competitions and research project contests.

A special focus of his work is the development of academic competitions. He is one of the initiators and organizers of the regional Kazhi Nursultanov Mathematics Olympiad for 5th–6th grade students, as well as the regional Olympiad for mathematics teachers. Over the eight years these competitions have been held, around 9,000 students have participated, and the events have become important educational traditions in the region.

The educator is also actively engaged in research and professional development. His achievements include a Certificate of Honor from the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, second place in the national “Best Original Program” competition, two awards from the IMPACT International Olympiad, and third place in the national “Mathematical Regatta” Olympiad. He regularly shares his teaching experience at international and national events, including WALS, CARN, and the NIS Conference.
