The Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Semey hosted the regional round of the World Robot Olympiad (WRO). This year, the competition brought together more than 40 teams from across the Abai region, providing a platform for students to showcase their engineering skills and creative ideas.

Participants competed in the categories RoboMission, RoboSports, Future Innovators, and Future Engineers, demonstrating their ability to design and program robots, as well as solve complex technical challenges.

The theme of the 2026 season, “Robots Meet Culture,” encouraged teams to combine modern technology with national values. Special attention was given to projects highlighting the cultural heritage of the Kazakh people, including national musical instruments, historical landmarks, and traditions presented through innovative engineering solutions.

According to the competition organizer, Miras Ondasynov, head of the NIS Advanced Laboratory for Engineering and Technical Creativity and Information Technology in Semey, interest in the competition continues to grow each year.
