The National Competition for Research Projects in the Social Sciences and Humanities has concluded in Karaganda. At the end of the final stage, Asylbek Kutumbekov, a 12th-grade student at the Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Semey, won first place.

A total of 293 projects across nine sections were presented in the final round. Overall, 370 students from all regions of the country defended their research. The project defense was organized in the format of an open exhibition in accordance with international Regeneron ISEF standards.

Over the past three years, Asylbek has been consistently engaged in research activities and is the author of four academic papers. His new project focuses on the criteria for successful business communication within the Korean linguistic and cultural context. The relevance of the study is driven by the dynamic development of partnership relations between Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea.

The project aims to optimize business interaction and minimize communication risks arising from cultural differences. As part of the research, models of speech adaptation were proposed, and a prototype AI-powered chatbot was developed using qualitative linguistic analysis.

The study is interdisciplinary in nature, combining cultural studies, linguistics, and artificial intelligence technologies, and stands out for its practical significance.

In the future, the young researcher plans to expand the empirical basis of the project and contribute to the improvement of machine translation systems — in particular, by coding and rigorously formalizing cultural nuances of Korean culture.

“My goal is to create artificial intelligence models capable of deeply understanding and accurately interpreting cultural context. I strive to develop culturally aware AI systems comparable in analytical depth to professional cultural experts and translators,” Asylbek noted.

The scientific supervisor of the project was Russian language teacher Ainur Bodeeva.
