Kazakh schoolchildren have become prize winners at the XXXI International Olympiad "Tuymada" in mathematics, informatics, physics, and chemistry. The Olympiad took place from July 3 to 11 in Yakutia (Republic of Sakha, Russia). Among them, a student from Semey city, Akzhan Askar, emerged as the overall winner of the international Olympiad.

Akzhan Askar, an 11th-grade student at Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in Semey, developed an interest in informatics since 8th grade.

"I took second place at the republican stage of the Olympiad in 9th grade, when I had just started preparing. However, I didn't advance to the national level. This became a great motivation for me. In the academic year 2023-2024, I won silver medals at the international Zhautykov Olympiad and The Eurasian Olympiad . I also stood out among the best at the republican Olympiad and earned the opportunity to represent the school at the international Olympiad "Tuymada" ,- noted Akzhan Askar.

The academic competition brought together 234 students representing countries such as Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Romania, and Indonesia.
