In the modern education system, it is essential that students not only acquire theoretical knowledge but also develop the ability to apply it in practice, understand the interconnection between the natural environment and society, enhance their research skills, and foster a continuous desire for learning.
To support these goals, within the framework of an integration project aimed at combining academic education with personal development, a field research lesson was organized for 9th grade students of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Semey. As part of the educational project “Menin Kishi Otanym”, and through the integration of the subject of geography, students took part in the data collection and analysis stage of research, studying the natural features of their native region and gaining valuable practical experience and knowledge.
The research activities were conducted in the territory of the State Forest Nature Reserve "Semey Ormany", as well as at the Karagaily Sanatorium, the Svyatoy Klyuch Spring, and the Elimai Recreation Center.
Students researched natural objects in 11 different areas, studying the history and peculiarities of forestry, the use of pine trees, forest restoration efforts following fires, the properties of the water from the "Holy Key" spring and its potential for religious tourism, the characteristics of soil composition, flora and fauna, the impact of recreational pressure, and the potential of the Karagaily sanatorium as a center for balneological tourism.
The staff of the State Forest Nature Reserve "Semey Ormany" provided the students with comprehensive information on each research area and answered important questions related to forestry and ecosystems. The field research lesson contributed to the students' mastery of scientific research methods and deepened their interest in conservation issues.
