Artificial Intelligence and Humanity

According to the event plan of AEO "Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools" and the public foundation "OzgerTeam," a debate was held at Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Kyzylorda on the topic: "This House believes that artificial intelligence is a threat to humanity."

The debates were held in the World Schools Debate format and brought together students from grades 7 to 9. Each team presented their arguments both for and against the use of artificial intelligence.

The participants demonstrated a high level of preparation and critical thinking. Some teams focused on the dangers related to the loss of control over AI, the potential for its use in military applications, and the threat to personal privacy. Others, on the contrary, defended artificial intelligence as a tool capable of significantly improving society, increasing work efficiency, and offering new solutions in the fields of medicine, ecology, and education.

  "The debates were informative and engaging. The students showed that the topic of artificial intelligence sparks heated discussions, and it's important to continue exploring it from different perspectives. Following the debates, the three best players were selected to represent the school at the regional stage. Our goal is to teach students to analyze complex topics, seek evidence, and substantiate their viewpoints, as well as to broaden their horizons and teach them how to work in a team," explained national debate coach Gulzat Shyntasova.
