A student at Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Kyzylorda Adelina Finansova has been named a grand finalist of THE PLANET OF ART – 2026, an international youth festival held under the auspices of UNESCO. Her artwork, which highlights the role of Kazakh women in preserving national traditions, was featured in the festival’s final exhibition in Almaty.

The award ceremony and exhibition of finalists’ works took place at Almaty Museum of Arts. This year’s festival focused on the theme “The Role of Women in Preserving and Promoting UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage.” The event also marked the 80th anniversary of UNESCO and the 45th anniversary of the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations.

Thousands of young artists aged 3 to 18 from 54 countries participated in the competition. Approximately 400 artworks were selected for the final round by an international jury.

In her painting, Adelina portrays Kazakh women as guardians of family values, traditions and cultural heritage. The artwork depicts four women engaged in different everyday activities. Each represents a distinct aspect of Kazakh women’s lives, highlighting their care for their families and their role in passing traditions from one generation to the next. Through familiar scenes of daily life, the young artist illustrates how national culture is preserved and passed down through generations.

A cultural and educational programme was organised for the festival finalists in Almaty. Participants visited the A. Kasteyev National Museum of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Almaty Museum of Arts. They also took part in an outdoor painting session at Shymbulak Mountain Resort, a UNESCO Club.

THE PLANET OF ART brings together young artists from around the world, offering them an opportunity to showcase their cultural heritage through art and discover the traditions of other nations.

Adelina’s achievement highlights the richness of Kazakh culture on the international stage and demonstrates how art can help preserve and share cultural heritage with the world.
