Arafat Wins First Place at National Dombra Competition

Arafat Abdulpattayev, a Grade 7 student at Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Kyzylorda, won first place in the national Küy – Құдіретті әуез competition, which promotes Kazakhstan’s traditional musical heritage.

Organized by the ADAI Education Centre, the competition brought together more than 1,700 school students from across Kazakhstan.

Arafat performed Keroglı, a traditional kui by Dauletkerey. The jury highly praised his dombra playing skills and musical performance.

At NIS, dombra is taught as a core subject. All students entering Grade 7 are required to take dombra lessons as part of the curriculum.

From Grade 8 onwards, students can continue developing their musical skills through extracurricular dombra classes.
