The traditional local history and research expedition «Tuğan Elge Tağzym» was held in the Kyzylorda Region, bringing together the best Shanyraks from Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools of Kokshetau, Pavlodar, and Ust-Kamenogorsk.
Throughout the week, participants explored the region’s history, cultural heritage, and modern development by visiting sites that reflect its centuries-old past and significant economic potential.
The expedition itinerary included visits to the ancient settlements of Syganak and Sauran, the Korkyt Ata Memorial Complex, as well as regional and district history museums. These excursions gave students a deeper understanding of the historical importance of the Syr Darya region, its contribution to the development of the Great Silk Road, and the rich cultural heritage of Kazakhstan.
Particular attention was paid to the region’s modern economic sectors. At the Shalkiya Zinc enterprise, students learned about the extraction of polymetallic ores, contemporary mining technologies, and the project’s role in the development of Kazakhstan’s industrial sector.
Another educational highlight was a visit to the diversified agricultural company Abai-Daulet, where participants explored the full cycle of agricultural production - from horticulture and livestock farming to the processing of agricultural products. The excursion demonstrated how modern technologies and effective management contribute to the sustainable development of the region’s agro-industrial complex.
The students also visited Abzal and K, where they became familiar with advanced technologies used in rice cultivation, processing, and export - one of the key agricultural industries of the Kyzylorda Region.
One of the most memorable stages of the program was the trip to Nagi Ilyasov, recognized as one of the most well-maintained rural settlements in Kazakhstan. There, students observed successful practices in rural infrastructure development, landscaping, and social initiatives, witnessing an effective partnership between the state, business, and the local community.
The «Tuğan Elge Tağzym» expedition became not only an opportunity to explore historical monuments and natural landmarks, but also an educational platform for studying contemporary socio-economic processes. During the trip, students analyzed information, met with representatives of various industries, conducted research observations, and collected materials for future projects.
The project contributes to the development of students’ research competencies, fosters respect for the country’s historical and cultural heritage, and helps young people understand the connection between the past, present, and future of their homeland. Many participants noted that the expedition inspired them to develop new research projects related to the history, culture, ecology, and socio-economic development of Kazakhstan’s regions.
