In honor of the renowned poet Mukagali Makataev’s birthday, the Kyzylorda Intellectual School organized a literary and educational competition centered around the theme “Zhyrlarym, zhyldarymmen zhalgasyndar!” The event was spearheaded by Kazakh language and literature teachers, along with teacher-librarians, with the primary objective of introducing children to the poet’s life and work while instilling a love for their people, language, and art.

The young intellectuals, divided into three groups, participated in four stages, testing their knowledge on the information they had studied. In the “Who is the smartest?” competition, participants answered questions about Mukagali Makataev’s life, work, and family. In the “Pictures Speak” stage, gifted children showcased their ability to identify songs based on the poet’s lyrics. In subsequent rounds, participants were asked to complete poems and create their own compositions on given topics, demonstrating their writing skills.

One 8th-grade student, Symbat Torebek, expressed, “The event provided me with captivating information, broadened my horizons, and sparked a keen interest in delving deeper into the works of Mukagali Makataev.”
Following the competition, the winners were announced. The “Orda” team secured first place, with the “Lashyn” team securing second place, and the “Bakyt” team claiming the third spot on the podium. To conclude the evening, both teachers and students recited M. Makataev’s poems and shared their personal impressions.
