Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Kyzylorda marked Nauryz – a symbol of renewal, unity, and goodwill – with a vibrant and large-scale celebration. The festive event brought together students, parents, and teachers, highlighting the importance of national traditions and shared values.

The celebration began early in the morning, with parents preparing traditional baursaks, while staff cooked Nauryz kozhe, a traditional festive dish symbolizing abundance. At a handicraft fair organized by boarding students, guests had the opportunity to explore traditional crafts and purchase unique handmade items.

As part of the concert program, students performed national dances and songs, and staged theatrical performances reflecting the customs and traditions of the Kazakh people. Traditional ceremonies such as Tusau kesu (a ritual marking a child’s first steps) and Bata beru (a blessing ceremony) were also presented, revealing the deeper meaning of the holiday.

“Through such events, we foster patriotism, civic responsibility, and respect for family values among our students. This holiday, passed down from generation to generation, holds great educational significance,” said school principal Akbar Tussupbayev.

The second part of the celebration featured traditional sports competitions. Winners were determined in disciplines such as lyangi (a traditional foot game), kettlebell lifting, arm wrestling, and tug of war.

Filled with national flavor and cultural richness, the celebration became a true symbol of unity within the school community and offered participants an authentic Nauryz experience.
