Teachers Beyond the Classroom: A Photo Exhibition about Teachers’ Hobbies

09 October 2025 14:07

The school is hosting a photo exhibition where teachers showcase their favorite hobbies and pastimes. The photos capture moments of fishing, horseback riding, mountain hiking, traveling, family life, playing the guitar and dombra, photography, clothing design, mosaic art, and gardening. Each shot reveals a new, inspiring side of a teacher’s personality.

Students have long called Russian language and literature teacher Aigul Doskuzhaeva the most stylish at school – but few knew that all her outfits are handmade.

“A hobby for me is an escape, a way to immerse myself in what I love,” says the teacher. “I learned to sew when I was 12, and back then all my dresses were made from the same fabric, just in different styles. Lately, I’ve been giving a second life to old clothes. I love seeing my reflection in a beautiful outfit. I enjoy making the world around me more beautiful – and I start with myself.”

The organizers of the exhibition emphasized that the project’s idea is to inspire both students and teachers.

“We wanted to show that behind the familiar image of a teacher stands a passionate, creative person who is open to the world. Each of them has their own source of joy and inspiration – and that’s what brings teachers closer to their students,” said the school’s PR manager, Elena Rybina.

The photo exhibition sparked genuine interest among visitors and became a source of motivation for many – some decided to return to a forgotten hobby, while others were inspired to start something new.
