Aisha Tashkenova (Grade 11C) and Zhansaya Seitkumarova (Grade 12C) from Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Ust-Kamenogorsk, along with their scientific supervisors — biology teachers Zhainagul Saipulmulukovna Katpenova and Akmaral Toktarbekovna Toktarbekova, and research advisor Kydyrmolla Akatan, PhD (Amanzholov University), received a copyright for their project “Increasing Grain Yield Using an Advanced Agricultural Product Based on Akkalkan Bentonite”.
The study of Akkalkan bentonite, found in the Zaysan region of East Kazakhstan, opens up great possibilities for applying new methods and materials in agriculture.
The main goal of the research was to study the physical and chemical properties of Akkalkan bentonite and determine its potential applications in agriculture. Specifically, the research focused on the effect of bentonite on enhancing soil fertility and increasing crop yield.
During the study, seeds treated with a bentonite-based solution produced 10% more yield compared to the control group, and the root system development increased by 20%. These results show that bentonite is an important material for increasing crop yield.
Akkalkan bentonite is an eco-friendly and efficient material. Its use is particularly important in water-scarce regions, as it enhances the soil’s ability to retain moisture and helps save water resources. The results indicate that bentonite has great potential for widespread use as a fertilizer in agriculture.
This research is an important step in applying new, effective methods in agriculture aimed at increasing crop yield and solving ecological problems. The properties of bentonite and its potential applications in agriculture hold scientific and practical value.
