16 February 2026 17:08

There is great reason for pride! The Tidal Tumble team from NIS Uralsk has won second place at the prestigious robotics competition Central Asia FIRST Championship – 2026, held in Astana, and has earned the long-awaited opportunity to compete at the international stage in Houston, USA.

The young innovators demonstrated outstanding performance at the Alem TechFest – 2026 technology festival. In the First LEGO League Challenge category, they became winners of the “Robot Performance Winner” nomination and received the “Champion’s Award – 2nd Place.” Thanks to this achievement, the team has entered the top three representatives of Kazakhstan on the world stage.

The team members are: Doskhan Aitbayev (10A), Beknur Zhanbolatuly (10C), Danial Kozhakhmet (11F), Demeu Tuganbayev (11E), Aldiyar Abilov (11E), Alim Uspanov (10B), Damir Mazhit (10A), and Azat Abdrakhmanov (11F). Preparation for the tournament began back in September, and in November the team became the champion of the regional stage “Jaiyq FIRST Regional – 2025,” earning their ticket to the Central Asia Championship. Today, the students showcased their talent on the capital’s stage — and ahead of them lies the global arena and new heights to conquer!

In addition, our Grade 11 student Tair Uashev, representing the team “Nomadic.Dragons.FTC,” distinguished himself among the best in the FIRST Tech Challenge (highest category) competition and has also earned the opportunity to participate in the stage that will take place in the USA.

Congratulations to our heroes!

Team mentors: school robotics club coach Armat Bolatuly Maksotov and Grade 12 student Nazar Tair.
