The Almaty Tech Cup 2025, the largest robotics and drone championship in Central Asia, has concluded in Almaty. The event brought together more than 3,000 participants from over 10 countries.
In the FLL category, the team from the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Uralsk, “Tidal Tumble,” emerged victorious in the “Robot Design” category, earning a ticket to the prestigious Asia Pacific Open First Championship 2025, which will take place in Sydney, Australia.
At the Almaty championship, the Uralsk school team presented their “Agua Aeris” project—a device that extracts water from air. The idea was developed by the Head of the Advanced Engineering and IT Laboratory at NIS, Medet Yeseyevich Bisekenov, along with students Tair Uashev and Nurymkhan Berkin.
The project was further developed with the support of the “Tidal Tumble” team under the guidance of robotics club mentor and IT specialist Armat Bolatovich Maksotov. Their dedication has significantly increased students’ interest in science and technology. As part of the project, students studied condensation processes, alternative energy sources, and modern water purification technologies.
The team consists of talented students:
• Nazar Tair (Grade 11D)
• Serik Alihan (Grade 11C)
• Abdrakhmanov Azat (Grade 10F)
• Uashev Tair (Grade 10E)
• Berkin Nurymkhan (Grade 10E)
• Serikov Ilyas (Grade 10E)
• Seitenov Adlet (Grade 9D)
• Serikov Adilkhan (Grade 11E)
Having joined the intellectual school in Grade 7, these students have developed a strong passion for robotics and are working on projects aimed at solving pressing environmental and technological challenges. Their portfolio already includes innovations that could benefit society, and they continue to develop new groundbreaking ideas.
The young NIS engineers showcased cutting-edge robotic design solutions, earning high praise from the judges. Their victory highlights their advanced technical knowledge, creativity, and teamwork skills.
The Asia Pacific Open First Championship 2025 is one of the most prestigious robotics competitions in the world, bringing together the strongest teams globally. Now, the students of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Uralsk are preparing to represent Kazakhstan on the international stage.
This achievement is a testament to the students’ hard work, the professional training provided by their mentors, and the high quality of STEM education at Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools.
