From July 10 to 14, 2025, the village of Zerenda in the Akmola region hosted the “Climate Won't Wait” summer climate camp, organized as part of the UNDP project “Climate Box.” The camp was attended by schoolchildren and teachers — finalists and winners of the eponymous competition from various regions of Kazakhstan.
The camp's main goal was to encourage teenagers to take responsibility for climate change issues and develop environmental awareness and practical problem-solving skills. The camp program included lectures, project assignments, discussions, and interactive games about biodiversity, energy efficiency, water conservation, and climate resilience.
A special highlight of the event was Azhar Sarsenbay, an 8th grader from NIS Kokshetau. She won the "Uzdik Zoba" award for her project, "Using Rainwater as an Alternative Water Source." The expert jury praised her work, recognizing its practical significance and contribution to solving environmental problems.
Gulda Kurmanali, the project's scientific supervisor, supported the student during the research and development stages.
