NIS Atyrau hosted an expressive reading contest "I erected a monument to myself not made with hands ..." dedicated to the 225th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Pushkin among 7th grade students.
The aim of the expressive reading competition is to develop students' artistic perception and the ability to convey the emotional coloring of works through intonation and expressiveness of speech, as well as to increase interest in literature and build respect for the classical heritage.
The competition was aimed at drawing students' attention to the work of the great poet A.S. Pushkin and at reflecting on the significance of the writer's personality and creativity in the history of world culture. Before the competition, briefings were held, where teachers introduced students to the importance of correct intonation, expressiveness and clarity of pronunciation when performing the text. Students could also receive tips on speech technique and accents in reading. 8 students participated in the competition, one student from all seventh grades according to the results of the preliminary selection in each class.
The contestants took turns speaking, and their performances were evaluated by a jury consisting of school teachers and the head teacher of VR. Berdieva R.K. Each student presented his own interpretation of the poem on stage, trying to convey not only the words, but also the deep meaning contained in the work. As a result of the competition, the winners were determined by the total points scored for each performance. The winners were awarded with diplomas and original gifts symbolizing Pushkin's works.
The competition was an important step in educating schoolchildren about their love of literature, the development of expressive skills and the ability to work with text. Teachers noted a significant improvement in students' expressive reading skills, as well as their active participation and interest in literary works.
