1 September 2010

The Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Chemistry and Biology opened its doors to students.

12 July 2011

A decision was taken to authorise the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Chemistry and Biology in Astana to join the International Baccalaureate. As the International Baccalaureate gives students the flexibility to choose an education profile, the chemistry

and biology profile was abolished and the school was renamed the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Astana.

21 September 2011

Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the «Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools» Autonomous Educational Organisation and the International Baccalaureate Organisation.

November 2011

The Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Astana was awarded «Candidate School» status for the authorisation of the Diploma Programme.

April 2013

Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Astana successfully passed the authorisation of the Diploma Programme and received the status of World School of the International Baccalaureate. It is the only school in the network of Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools to offer the International Baccalaureate Programme.

2 May 2013

Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Astana received the status of a candidate school for the Middle Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate.

November 2015

Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Astana became an authorized IB World School for Middle Years Programme.

June 2016

In 2015, Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Astana was awarded “Candidate School” status for accreditation by the Council of International Schools (CIS) on 7 May following a preliminary visit in April. In June 2016, Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Astana was awarded the Council of International Schools (CIS) accreditation certificate.

September 2019

Within the framework of realization of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.Tokayev on March 23, 2019, Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Astana city was renamed Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Nur-Sultan City.

October 2019

Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Astana underwent an evaluation visit by the International Baccalaureate. As required, each school authorised by the International Baccalaureate undergoes an assessment visit every 5 years. The schools are assessed separately for each programme being implemented in the school. It should be noted that Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Nur-Sultan applied to undergo assessment of the Core School programme and the Senior School programme at the same time. On 23 Octobe, 2019 the school received a report from the International Baccalaureate on the successful completion of the assessment visit.

April 2021

Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Astana has passed a virtual preparatory assessment visit of the Council of International Schools (CIS).

October 2023

Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Astana hosted a synchronized assessment visit of the International Baccalaureate and the Council of International Schools, following which the school successfully passed re-accreditation and confirmed its high status as an International Baccalaureate school.
