A closing ceremony for the “Tuğan Elge Tağzym” (Tribute to the Native Land) local history and research expedition—one of the largest and most anticipated educational projects within the NIS system—was held at the Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Astana.

The project aims to develop students’ research, scientific, and creative abilities, deepen their understanding of the history and cultural heritage of their homeland, and foster patriotic values among young people.

A distinctive feature of this year’s expedition was its organization within the framework of the Year of Artificial Intelligence. Artificial intelligence technologies were selected as the central theme of the research activities. By combining traditional local history studies with modern digital tools, students explored the natural and historical characteristics of different regions in an innovative way.

During the expedition, students from Aktau, Taraz, and Turkistan spent several days visiting historical and cultural sites and studying local ecosystems. They observed regional flora and fauna, analyzed water quality, and collected data on environmental conditions.

As part of the project, participants worked using specially designed route guides and research worksheets. Over the course of five days, they gathered information, interviewed local residents and experts, and conducted a comprehensive study of the region’s unique characteristics.
