On March 14, as part of the “NIS Birge Oqiyq” project, 8th grade students at our intellectual school took part in a literary discussion of the short story “Boarding School Bread” by the prominent Kazakh writer Sherkhan Murtaza. The story reflects the life and fate of a child studying in a boarding school, portraying the realities of that time.
During the discussion, students used not only traditional methods of literary analysis but also applied creative and original formats of engagement, which allowed them to explore the story’s content and significance more deeply. Each group analyzed selected passages from different perspectives, sharing their insights and interpretations. It was also noted that the story remains relevant today and conveys important life lessons for the younger generation.
This type of literary analysis fosters critical thinking, encourages students to better understand the text, and helps them connect it with real-life experiences. Such meetings not only enhance interest in Kazakh literature but also inspire reflection on key life values.
