The main activities of the library of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in Aktobe are: supporting the educational process with information resources, developing information and functional literacy, developing a culture of reading, research skills, introducing information technology into the library and sharing experience with comprehensive schools.

The process of supporting the educational process includes forming a library fund with resources. Our library fund contains a large collection of educational publications, an interesting and diverse collection of literature on psychology, self-development and various fields of knowledge. The fund is being formed in three languages: Kazakh, Russian and English. The collection in Kazakh consists of a large amount of literature on the history of Kazakhstan, literary criticism and a good library of personalities. Fiction in Kazakh contains works by classics and modern authors, there is also translated literature of world classics.

One of the tasks of the school library for the information filling of the educational space of the school is to organize access to electronic resources. This activity includes not only the formation of multimedia materials funds, but also the search, collection, evaluation, systematization of Internet resources for its use online. Therefore, the libraries of the Intellectual Schools see their task when working with Internet resources in selecting the most valuable resources from the point of view of their users and providing convenient access to them. One of such resources is EBSCO - a supplier of electronic services and databases in the information services market and some platforms of the Bilim Media Group company. Bilim Media Group is an innovative company that is forming a new e-learning market for Kazakhstan. The company is engaged in the development, localization and distribution of educational content, as well as related technologies and services. Among its clients are government organizations, the largest IT companies, media structures and leading educational institutions of the country.

In addition to Internet resources that require a subscription, there are a huge number of resources with open access. The library compiles a selection of links to sites that include the most authoritative foreign and domestic resources in various fields of knowledge that can be useful in educational activities. (Khan Academy, National Geographic, Lectorium, Encyclopedias of the company "Cyril and Methodius", Encyclopedia Britannica, etc.)

There are a considerable number of wonderful information resources on the Internet, including for supporting the educational process. However, the excess of information, the presence of poor-quality, and sometimes dangerous materials, make the role of the school library indispensable, one of the tasks of which is to filter, select, systematize high-quality resources for the formation of funds of electronic materials.

Due to the increase in the amount of information, the primary task for school libraries is the development of information and functional literacy. There is a need to optimize its search and selection. This means that mastering high information literacy becomes a particularly important task in the educational and research activities of students. The ability to formulate an information need, request, search, select, evaluate and analyze information are skills that are necessary for modern students. These tasks are solved by holding information literacy lessons for students in the library. Information literacy development lessons for students begin with familiarization with the reference and bibliographic apparatus of the library with practical work on searching for information or performing mini-research work. The next stage is lessons on developing network skills. Students should be able to effectively use the capabilities of the network: resources, e-mail, take part in electronic voting, work with search engines, find and save the necessary information. Most importantly, schoolchildren should be informed about the structure and content of educational resources available to their educational institution and open access resources, practically navigate the "virtual terrain", understand how and how the Internet can help their education and be able to apply these opportunities in everyday educational activities.
