A mathematics teacher from NIS in Aktobe, Bakyt Alzhanova, participated in the AEA-Europe international conference held in Paphos, Cyprus. She presented her research on the impact of artificial intelligence on students' mathematical achievements.

The conference focused on the theme “Advancing Assessment Practices in Education: Leveraging Technology, Artificial Intelligence, and Process Data in 21st-Century Evaluation.” Keynote speakers included Professor Therese Hopfenbeck, head of the Center for Educational Research and Evaluation (CERE) under the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus, and Dr. Yiasemina Karagiorgi. Professors Damian Murchan, Cor Sluijter, and Elena Papanastasiou, who are experts in international assessment research, also shared their studies and answered participants' questions.
In her presentation, Bakyt Konysbaevna shared findings on the effectiveness and side effects of applications such as Desmos, Mathway, Photomath, and Geogebra in enhancing students' mathematical knowledge. The research was conducted over a year among 9th-grade students.
“Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the conference. It was my first time participating in such an event. I exchanged experiences with European and American colleagues and gained many ideas for my future research. The range of topics presented at the conference was impressive, especially those related to international exams such as PISA, TIMSS, PIRLS, TALIS, GCSE, and A-Level,” said Bakyt Alzhanova.
