Aktobe NIS Students Win Prizes at NASA Space Apps Challenge 2025

Students of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Aktobe performed brilliantly at the regional NASA Space Apps Challenge 2025 hackathon, held on October 4–5 at the American Corner Aktobe, and won top prizes!

1st place was awarded to the team including Dilnaz Nurumbaeva, a student of Grade 11 “V”.

The team presented an impressive project — a space station orbiting Mars designed for 150,000 people.

The goal of the project was to demonstrate how humanity could live beyond Earth. The team created a website for the station systems, a VR environment, performed mathematical calculations, and designed recreation zones and plantations for food production.

Dilnaz participated as part of the Sirenix team, alongside two students from BIL and one participant from AIS.

Twelve selected teams, totaling over 50 participants, took part in the hackathon.

"There was excitement, joy, and pride for our team, especially when they announced that we had won 1st place. We plan to further develop the project — adding more functionality to the VR and website, and presenting it at international competitions," said Dilnaz.

2nd place went to the Talented Creators team, which included Ademi Rishad, a student of Grade 12 “H”.

Their project, “Will it rain on my party?”, was a website that helps users choose appropriate clothing based on the weather.

The idea arose from a common problem: in autumn, it is often difficult to decide what to wear, and sudden weather changes can lead to colds.

The team of six successfully implemented their idea and impressed the jury with its originality.

"We did not expect to be among the winners — other teams’ projects seemed larger in scale. So when they announced that we won 2nd place, it was a pleasant surprise!" shared Ademi.

Students of Aktobe NIS demonstrated a high level of preparation, creativity, and deep knowledge in technology and science.

Congratulations to our talented students on this brilliant achievement, and we wish them continued success at international competitions!
