Rustam Valeev, a graduate of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Aktobe, has been awarded the state medal “Shapagat”. The award was presented by Darhan Satybaldy, Akim of Almaty, at the Palace of the Republic in honor of Teacher’s Day.
Rustam studied at NIS FMN Aktobe from 2015 to 2021. During his school years, he became a prize-winner of prestigious international Olympiads:
🥉 International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO) – Bronze (2019);
🥈 European Geography Olympiad (EGeO) – Silver (2019, 2020, 2021);
🥇 International Geography Olympiad (IGeO) – Gold (2021).
After graduation, Rustam continued to contribute to the development of the Olympiad movement. From 2021 to 2024, he served as an external geography coach at NIS schools in Aktobe and Pavlodar. Under his guidance, students earned gold, silver, and bronze medals at the IGeO and EGeO international Olympiads.
Since 2022, Rustam has been a coach of the National Team of Kazakhstan in Geography and a task developer for the Republican Olympiad for school students.
🇰🇿 Under his mentorship, the national team achieved record-breaking success — 4 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze medals, and in 2025, secured 2nd place in the overall team standings at IGeO, the best result in Kazakhstan’s history!
Today, Rustam is a third-year student at Satbayev University, majoring in Applied Geology.
We are proud of our graduate — his professional achievements, his contribution to the development of geographical education, and his inspiring example for future generations of NIS students!
