From April 23 to 25, the National Conference organized by the Center of Pedagogical Excellence was held in Almaty.

Bakhyt Konysbaykyzy Alzhanova, a mathematics teacher at the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in Aktobe, took part in the conference and presented her research titled “The Impact of Formative Assessment on Developing Students’ Self-Regulation Skills in Mastering Subject Knowledge.”

The research was conducted in the subjects of Kazakh language, mathematics, and geography, and focused on fostering students’ self-regulation abilities.

The National Conference brought together education experts from 12 countries. International speakers, including WALS President Stephane Clivas and Peter Dudley (UK), delivered keynote addresses.

The conference program featured presentations by both Kazakhstani and international experts, symposia, section meetings, master classes, panel discussions, poster sessions, and participation in lesson-based research through classroom observations.

It is worth noting that among the hub schools in the region, Bakhyt Konysbaykyzy provided mentoring support to Secondary School No. 3 in Shalkar as part of a Lesson Study project. During the conference, the school’s informatics teacher, Zamzagul Zharylkasynkyzy Eldizirova, shared the results of her study titled “New Approaches in Teaching and Learning,” while primary school teacher Galiya Asylbekovna Sarina presented her research on “Developing Language Skills through Critical Thinking in Students.”

“It was evident that the level of research in teaching and learning, as well as teachers’ inquiry and research skills, is quite high. I believe that in the future, we will collaborate with teachers from hub schools to conduct joint research and contribute to improving the quality of education,” said Bakhyt Konysbaykyzy.
