At NIS Almaty-Nauryzbay students organized a meeting with renowned Kazakhstani mountaineer, captain of the national mountaineering team, and conqueror of all 14 eight-thousanders on the planet, Maksut Zhumayev.

Answering questions from the hosts, the guest told the story of his journey to mountaineering Olympus: his first ascent of Everest in 2007, his conquest of one of the most dangerous peaks in the world — K2 (Chogori), known as the “mountain of death,” where, according to statistics, every fourth climber dies, and how mountaineering tempers character and prevents one from straying from one's goal. The students were particularly interested in the climber's ascent of all the world's eight-thousanders without the use of oxygen, which can rightly be called true heroism, as well as the expedition organized by Maksut Zhumayev at the end of January to the Mexican mountain volcanoes. The hosts of the meeting, 9th grade students Asylzhan Mahanbetkarimov, Ismail Adilbek, Shahmardan Duysek, and Tamerlan Kabdulrakhim, introduced the guest to the school and the school's rock climbing club, where the climber shared his advice.

This memorable meeting gave students the opportunity to learn more about the history of mountaineering in Kazakhstan and strengthened their interest in mountain tourism and conquering their own peaks.
