05 November 2024 14:34

On October 31 and November 1, the Central Asia Model United Nations (CAMUN) international conference took place at the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in Almaty.

Young delegates from across Kazakhstan gained invaluable experience in simulating the work of the United Nations, engaging in discussions on critical global issues.

The main objectives of CAMUN are to develop participants' diplomatic and research skills, boost confidence in public speaking, and deepen their understanding of global challenges. Participants practiced UN meeting procedures, learned to formulate and defend arguments, and broadened their network of connections.

CAMUN included six committees:

  • General Assembly

  • United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)

  • United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC)

  • Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)

  • Security Council

  • World Health Organization (WHO)

The conference gathered 111 delegates, 12 presidium members, 5 organizers, and 28 volunteers from Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools, private and secondary schools, and universities across Kazakhstan.

These two days served as a true school of diplomacy for participants, providing them with experiences that inspire future achievements and a commitment to driving global change.
