14 October 2024 13:56
From October 8 to 11, 2024, the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in Almaty was visited by experts from the Council of International Schools (CIS) as part of the CIS international accreditation process. This was a preliminary visit by experts during the second stage of the international accreditation.
Experts Wendy Parry and David Henry spent four days getting more acquainted with the school's activities, its development, and its compliance with international standards. They observed lessons, held discussions with members of the school community, and met with focus groups representing working groups on seven standards: "Guiding Principles," "Teaching and Learning," "Management and Leadership," "Teaching and Support Staff," "Access to Teaching and Learning," "School Culture and Partnership for Learning," and "Operating Systems." After assessing the lessons, students' knowledge levels, and the professionalism of the teachers, the experts were satisfied with the school's readiness for CIS accreditation. They highly praised the school's progress over the past year and provided some recommendations for further improvement.
As a result of the experts' visit, the school will receive the status of "Candidate for Accreditation" and will begin work on self-assessment of its activities.
