At the prestigious international robotics competition FIRST Global Challenge 2025 held in Panama, students of the Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools became world champions for the fourth time.
For four consecutive years, the NIS team has been confidently maintaining its leadership on the global stage, reaffirming the high standards and potential of Kazakhstan’s education system.
This year’s competition focused on the theme of restoring ecological balance and preserving biodiversity. Among participants from more than 190 countries, students from NIS Almaty-Medeu – Rashat Dosymzhan, Ilyas Daulet, Alikhan Orynbasarov, Madiyar Asetuly, and Nurasyl Tursynbayev – stood out for their exceptional performance. Their project received high praise from the international jury and recognition from industry experts.
In addition to the championship title, the students earned two prestigious awards.
The first – the Albert Einstein Award, the most honorable and highest gold award of the competition, presented for outstanding engineering innovation, technical excellence, teamwork, and leadership.
The second – a bronze medal in the Alliance Games, which the team shared with participants from Bolivia, Rwanda, Aruba, and Jamaica.
One of the main coaches of the team was NIS teacher Dulat Baytulenov, with active support from USTEM Foundation representatives Asylbek Murzakhmetov and Nurdaulet Dosmagambetov.
It is worth noting that the NIS team had already achieved world victories in Geneva (2022), Singapore (2023), and Athens (2024).
The national team was supported by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development, the USTEM Foundation, the international innovation cluster Astana Hub, the Alem.AI International Center for Artificial Intelligence, and the Kazakhstani startup Cannect.AI.
