From September 8 to 12, 2025, the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in the Medeu district of Almaty hosted a student exchange program within the framework of the “Partner Schools” project in collaboration with Greener Pastures International School (Yaoundé, Cameroon).
During the week, students from Cameroon successfully completed an intensive course in Physics, Computer Science, Biology, and Chemistry with laboratory immersion (STEM subjects with laboratory immersion). The laboratory sessions allowed them to gain deeper insight into the teaching methodologies of natural sciences and mathematics at NIS.
In addition to the academic program, an important component of the visit was cultural exchange. Students of Almaty NIS organized joint events, sports activities, creative performances, and friendly gatherings, giving the guests an opportunity to become more familiar with Kazakh culture and school life. In turn, NIS teachers enriched their experience of working with international students and exchanged pedagogical approaches.
Representatives of Greener Pastures International School emphasized the significance of this cooperation. In their feedback, they noted:
“We are very pleased to see how the Government of Kazakhstan has developed a unique educational infrastructure and program. We are grateful that opportunities for international exchange with African countries, especially with our school Greener Pastures, are being created. We look forward to sharing this unique opportunity with many schools across Central Africa. This is truly inspiring and opens up a new perspective on Kazakhstan.”
