I International competition “Chemist-researcher” for the best scientific project on chemistry among students of secondary schools, gymnasiums and lyceums was held April 7-8 in Astana. The students of our school presented 2 design works, which were awarded diplomas of I and III degrees.
The project work of Khalmukhamedova Yulduz and Keneshbekova Aruzhan, the 10th grade students, is aimed at obtaining magnetic powder from steel construction waste.
– This magnetic powder can be used in the manufacture of hard drives, pharmacokinetic studies and targeted delivery of drugs and genes. The raw material was provided to us by Zhambyl Metalwork Plant Imstalkon LLP, one of the authors of the Yulduz project shared with us.
“The study of hydrides as carriers of hydrogen fuel, on stability” is the name of the scientific work on the chemistry of 12th grade students Rakhimov Damir and Batyrbaeva Aida.
– At the moment, hydrogen fuel is not widely used, as there are problems of its safe storage and transportation. The scientific community suggests storing hydrogen in hydrides, and we decided to test the stability of these compounds and suggest a more optimal way of searching for promising hydrides, – say young chemists.
The winners of the prize I, II, III seats were awarded with diplomas and valuable gifts (smart phones and books). All the participants of the contest were awarded certificates and memorable gifts, heads with thank you letters.
The contest is traditionally held on the basis of the Palace of Schoolchildren and is a good mechanism for improving the quality of training of young scientists, as well as stimulating their scientific work.
