On January 13, this year, the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Taraz hosted an online mini-conference – “Fair of Ideas”, dedicated to the interim analysis of the effectiveness of intra-school courses on teachers ‘research” Action research. Lesson Study. Hertscam». The event was attended by 18 research groups consisting of 46 teachers-students of intra-school courses.
– The purpose of the conference is to improve the research skills of teachers and create a collaborative platform based on the results of group research. Through getting feedback from colleagues could be improved the practice of conducting research and developing reflective skills of teachers, – said the Deputy Principal Aliya Zhusanbaeva.
Most of the research works were carried out on the basis of integration of several subjects such as: chemistry, biology, physics, history, art and language subjects. The participants of the conference were particularly interested in the results of a study of history teachers on the topic: “How to use the algorithmic method to develop students’ skills in analyzing historical sources.” The presented work was performed on the basis of the classical method of Lesson Study.
Moreover, during the conference, teachers had the opportunity to compare the two methods of conducting research, as well as share their experience on the effectiveness of the tools used in the research.
At the end of the conference, English teachers discussed the topic: “Improving writing skills at grade 7 through using student-friendly rubrics”, which solved the problem of improving students’ writing skills based on Action Research. The tool of the presented research interested other teachers of language subjects.
As experts, the teachers’ performances were observed by the trainers of the Center of Pedagogical Skills of Taraz city. They highly appreciated the large amount of work done, and also gave their recommendations for the further development of teachers’ research activities.
