Students of Nazarbayev Intellectual school of Taraz took an active part in TED-Ed Student Talks.
Under the guidance of English teacher Nagima Sarsenbaeva 15 students of the school for five months read different books with illustrations, scientific literature in English, conducted small sociological research, and prepared individual performances in the TED style.
Nagima Sarsenbayeva accidentally found out about TED-Ed Student Talks held within the framework of Teach and Share project. Interested, she applied to participate in the competition, where the participants had to justify in the essay his desire to lead the school club TED-Ed. In the end, Nagima Kenzhebekovna was one of 15 teachers selected on a competitive basis from 400 participants from across the country.
Soon, under her leadership, founded a school club, TED-Ed, which included 15 students interested in reading comics and books with illustrations. According to the program of the project, the members of the club had to read comics about social problems of teenagers, discuss what they had read, make video of their performances in English and put them in free access.
Thus, the videos of students of NIS Taraz became available on the TED-Ed platform, where young people share ideas and experiences to help their peers solve problems in everyday life.
Having successfully completed the project, the club members received diplomas from the organizers of the project – the US Consulate General in Almaty.
