November 8, 2018 according to the action plan of the educational and methodical Cabinet of the Department of education of akimat of Zhambyl region and Nazarbayev Intellectual school of Taraz on the basis of the Intellectual school of Taraz held a workshop for teachers of 6, 7, 8 classes of secondary schools on the theme: “The specifics of teaching subjects of natural and mathematical, social and humanitarian direction in the implementation of the updated content of education: active teaching methods, the principles of criteria-based assessment”.

The event was attended by school leaders, school coordinators and teachers of 6, 7, 8 classes, a total of 328 teachers. The workshop was organized in the following sections:

• a seminar “School development plan in terms of updating the content of secondary education” was held at the section for school leaders”;
• a dialogue platform on criteria-based assessment was organized at the section for school coordinators, where issues on the organization of summative assessment were discussed;
• at the sections for teachers of natural-mathematical and social-humanitarian direction for the participants were organized trainings “Development of criteria and descriptors for tasks that ensure the achievement of learning objectives”, “Solving problems of high complexity in mathematics” and a master class on writing an essay.

The results of the feedback of the participants showed that the visit to the lessons allows to see in practice the implementation of criteria-based assessment and the benefits of practice-oriented training seminars.
