In order to provide post-course methodological support for physics, chemistry, computer science and biology teachers, whom are expected to teach in English, was held a seminar “Introduction to the Practice of Teaching Subjects in English at Nazarbayev Intellectual school in Taraz».
The event was organized by Nazarbayev Intellectual school in Taraz. It was attended by more than 40 teachers of city and region schools. The aim is to form a systematic view of subject and language integrated teaching among subject teachers.
The seminar was opened by the Deputy principal for external relations Asemgul Bukutova and foreign English teacher Aaron Davis with the presentation “Introduction to team-teaching”.
Practical work with the participants of the seminar on “CLIL methodology in action” held by local and foreign teachers Zhuldyzay Jakypbekova, Yerkemay Tleukul, Victor Avasi and Alexander Crichton.
Also, teachers of biology, chemistry, physics and ICT of the Intellectual school provided guidelines for lesson planning using the CLIL methodology, formulating lesson goals, using authentic materials and resources in English. Teachers were offered to conduct a self-analysis of their teaching practice and discuss the problems encountered in the implementation of CLIL.
Chemistry teacher Gaziza Zhusipnazarova and Cyril Lusuegro held a joint demo lesson, showing an example of team teaching. During the round table, participants had the opportunity to freely ask all their questions.
– I got a feeling of confidence that I was moving in the right direction. I was pleased with a very large number of practical tasks. We had a very fruitful day, – said the participant of the seminar Biken Elmuratov during the reflection.
