9th grade student of the Taraz Intellectual school Elaman Sultan took the second place in the XIX All-Russian Olympiad of children and youth research projects on environmental issues “Human-Earth-Cosmos” (“Sozvezdie”) in the nomination “Space laboratory”.

The Sultan developed and assembled a model of a symmetric missile carrier design with two reusable re-launch vehicles for maximum payload. He also proposed a scheme for the flight and landing of the launch vehicle, with the help of which it will be possible to save fuel, increase the payload, carry out flights to distant planets, transport helium-3 from the surface of the moon, and reduce the amount of “space debris” in near-earth orbit.

During the year, under the guidance of physics teachers, he studied the theory of space flights and analyzed literary sources. Vladimir Korchagin, a teacher of additional education and the head of the Sultan, believes that design is the strength of his student. On his account there is already a victory at the VI Nauryz meetings of Nazarbayev Intellectual schools students.

About 300 schoolchildren from 10 to 18 years from all over Russia and Kazakhstan took part in the creative competition. Olympiad “Sozvezdie” is interesting because the most promising projects of students are sent into orbit for testing in space conditions.

The annual Olympiad has been implemented since 1999 on the initiative of the International UNESCO Chair at the International Center for Training Systems and the Russian State Research and Testing Center for Cosmonaut Training named after Yuri Gagarin.

The goal of the Olympiad is the formation of a creative, multi-faceted harmonious personality of the 21st century with ecologically oriented thinking, competent aesthetic taste and the desire to participate proactively and effectively in environmental protection activities.
